Dr. Birch knew she wanted to be a veterinarian from the time she was old enough to pronounce the word.
She grew up with both dogs and cats. She also begged to visit farm animals when staying with family in rural Pennsylvania and Maryland.
Dr. Birch was born on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She lived in rural Pennsylvania until she was 12 years old, then moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina. GO COCKS! She went on to receive her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Despite her dislike of the color orange, the Tiger mascot, she was happy to remain at an SEC school. She moved to Charlotte shortly after graduating from veterinary school at the urging of her childhood best friend.
Her special interests are soft tissue surgery, wellness and senior pet care, fear free visits and Client education.
When she is not at the hospital, she is busy wrangling human and animal beasts at home! She lives with her husband, three kids, 2 dogs and 2 cats in Matthews. In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, her book club, exploring new restaurants and traveling.
